I recently took a mini book making class with Seth Apter. I adore taking classes with him. He’s so fun. So passionate. So creative. And so good at teaching. I try to take what I learn and put a Sarah twist on it. He’s already the perfect Seth Apter. The world doesn’t need another.
So I started this book in the class, and then put it on a shelf, and there it sat for a while. I was going to start a new project, but I made myself complete this one before I started another book. I am so glad I did. I so enjoyed both the process and the outcome. It’s a sweet little book with a little poem I wrote all about why I love the sea.
The cover has a block print I created of a quahog shell, and I wrote out my poem on an old typewriter I have. There’s a tiny bit of some fabric I printed cyanotypes of seaweed on to, and some papers I made with dyes, paints, rust, tea, etc. as well as some tissue paper I’d been saving for absolute ages. I think I found the perfect use for it!!!
