I love of course, my sweet family: my daughter who brings me joy and makes me proud, and amazes me on a regular basis, my husband who makes me laugh like no one else in the world can (my daughter is a very close second…) and lovely Lucy our gorgeous dog who can at times remind me a bit of Eeyore. I love searching for stones, getting an OS map, finding a destination and following single track roads and footpaths, using the hills and dales and fences to track our path… And then, after wiggles and turns and stops and starts, there they are. Some neolithic monument that has survived thousands of years. Whose purpose is often unknown. Whose story is often filled with a bit of magic or folklore… Even just thinking about searching out stones makes me happy.
These stones were not hard to find, in fact they’re found at Standing Stones Car Park, (I kid you not) near Hereford, England. Every time I’m any where that could possibly have any stones to find, I look around to see what there is near where I’ll be. We were in Hereford for the week, quite a few years back now, and this was what I found. I spent a wonderful afternoon with my favorite guy and my favorite girl, they made a snow man while mommy photographed the stones… As it turns out, this was my favorite image of that beautiful day…
Seems fitting to post a snowy image the day before what is hopefully the last storm of the season…
