A couple of years ago, life was really challenging due to a number of reasons, and I just didn’t have enough hours to take care of my home life, take care of the studio and take care of some personal things that needed me. I tried, I really did, but I had to accept that I couldn’t get everything done. And one of the things that fell through the cracks was my annual photo of my daughter that I use on my holiday cards.
I made some cards with this image I’d taken in Kenya, which I thought were pretty darn cute. Turns out I took a lot of flack for the elephants. It’s been two years now, and I still get comments about how everyone missed their annual portrait of my daughter. I still get given a hard time over this! Turns out people look forward to my card. Even my childhood minister gave me a hard time, ‘what’s with the elephants?’, he asked.
I know that I love receiving cards with my friends and family’s children and families on them. I love seeing how everyone changes and grows. I get the disappointment my family and friends must have felt when they were expecting my beautiful girl, and maybe my dog (she’s hit or miss these years, sadly, we often choose the easy path, next year she’ll make the cut!) and opened the card to elephants.
It truly is the little things. (Not the big things like elephants obviously, lol). Share some love this season.
There’s still time if you haven’t ordered your cards! We have a ton of options available, give me a shout if you’d like to order your holiday cards of your beautiful family and bring a smile to the faces of your friends and family. And if you’re one of those save the planet kind of people, like me, many of our card options are sustainably sourced and partially made from recycled materials, with the option (that I always choose) of fully recycled.
