Tips for a great photo day

Clothing:  The best thing your student can wear is something they feel great wearing. If they feel good, they’ll look good! Makes our job easier. That said, we prefer bright colors, solids or minimal pattern, longer sleeves, when tops aren’t too low cut, ones that don’t have logos or words or hoods, or are too busy. If you don’t want your child to wear their jacket, sweater or hoodie, please tell them. We always ask, but sometimes the answer they give us is not the one you might want. If they’ve been told a preference at home, it usually rings a bell when they’re asked at school.

If your student has worn the same thing for every photo day for years, tell us that too, we photograph thousands of students each year, so we’d never notice, sadly, but we love to share stories like that!

Glasses: Some particularly reflective glasses will show glare in the final portraits. We work very hard to remove glare whenever possible, but sometimes the total removal is not a possibility. In outdoor photos, transition lenses darken very quickly, please make suitable arrangements for photo day if you don’t want dark glasses.

Hair:  Hair should be clean, in a style that is not brand new. Hair takes a couple of days to settle into a hair cut, so you should try to have cuts at least a few days prior to photo day. If your child’s hair is always in their eyes, it is not always easy to keep it out for the portraits! Especially those little ones. Make sure we can see their sweet little faces! And please, don’t come to your photo session with wet hair!
